When I had the opportunity to open up a retail shop in the summer of 2018, I was 27, full of bright energy and had no clue how it would all unfold. Over the past 6 years ReRoot has gone through countless evolutions and "glow-ups" which is in large part due to the fact that a) I am a sagittarius and b) I've bootstrapped this business from day one; consistently reinvesting money, time and energy into the shop over and over again. Yet despite nearly sacrificing my soul to the capitalistic gods, the past year and a half would prove to show how hungry of a beast the world of retail can be...
I don't mean to be dramatic but I've realized that the amount of "self" running a retail space requires is simply NOT something I am willing to do anymore... but did you think I was done? Did you think I was just gonna quit and go "find a real job!?" Did you think that I would let the hungry beast win!? Y'all, let me prove to you how resilient I can be because REROOT IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Our humid little jungle at 34th and Larimer might be laying to rest for now but I am not giving up! The foundation of this garden has always been to connect people to nature through inspiration, creativity and education and I will continue to do that with or without a shop. ReRoot IS me and I know that this is exactly where I need to be, I just need to accept and rebuild.
Moving forward, here are some things you need to know regarding the brick and mortar:
Last day open 12/31/24
Holiday hours:
Christmas eve 12/24 closing at 4ish
Christmas day 12/25 closed
New Years eve 12/31 hours TBD
1. I literally have thousands of dollars of debt, therefore I need to keep things at their current prices in order to make some sort of dent; I told you I was brave, I never said I wasn't delusional. This is the best way to support us right now, please help us clear out the shop!
2. All of our fixtures and furniture items must go, if you are interested in anything in particular, please let me know asap. Almost every piece is custom and made with so much love.
3. If you are able and would like to support our staff directly (Pedro, Sarai and myself) our venmo is @rerootgardens
All donations will be split between the three of us
Here's what you can expect in 2025:
1. Classes and workshops are not going anywhere! Teaching fuels my heart and with more time and energy, I cannot wait to come up with new and exciting concepts. We are keeping our classroom space for now which is located one block away from the shop at 3300 Walnut. P.S. our schedule is posted for Jan-March and we are booking for private, corporate and remote events!
2. Shower bundles are staying! Self-care is the heart of ReRoot and honestly I personally cannot live without our shower bundles. Reminder that we offer nationwide shipping and subscriptions (holiday preorders close this sunday 12/15!) and if you are local there will be opportunities to pickup! More info on pickups soon.
3. Our Stewards of Nature program aka our interior plant design, installation and maintenance biz is definitely sticking around. We had the honor of working on the new Populus Hotel in Denver this year as well as many planty projects since 2020. I am excited to develop this part of the business further!
There are other exciting things to look forward to like: pop-ups and open studio days where you can come visit our classroom/studio and see what we are working on. Also, Sarai and I are yoga teachers and will be putting together a yoga and meditation schedule for the new year, really excited about this one! Of course, there will be special plant drops curated around interesting and unique plants that are hard to find anywhere else, expanding our online store offerings and so much more!
ReRoot is not just a retail store, it's a living breathing sanctuary that lives in the hearts of all. ReRoot is a second home to many of you and place where friendships, partnerships and chance-encounters have rooted and bloomed. ReRoot is a garden of creativity, a safe space and a genuine source of transformation and growth. You’ve helped us grow into something far more beautiful and lush than I ever could have imagined, and I am eternally grateful for the energy, warmth, and magic you’ve brought to this garden! I hope in this next iteration of ReRoot you may find the same special magic you always have and I cannot wait to continue the legacy of ReRoot into the future and beyond. Thank you so damn much.
As always, there is no ReRoot without you.
All my love,
Paige
